The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo: First Post

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is a novel that tells of two parallel intertwined stories: one about a girl named Lesbeth Salander and one about Mikael Blomkvist. It takes place in Sweden where Salander works as a detective who writes reports about people to turn in toher boss. Blomkvist is a financial journalist who was sued after he wrote an article for the magazine Millenium and lost.
The very beginning of the story, where Blomkvist loses and has a flashback to a time when he was 24, really hooked me. Unfortunately, the pages after that were all about business and how Wennerstrom cheated a company of 4.6 million. I'm not interested in or part of finance or business issues, so I was completely confused about what the purpose of those pages were. My group says the book is boring because the business part threw them off. I'm sure some people out there can agree with what I just wrote.
As the story unfolds it tells of how Salander got into the situation she's in now, which isn't very important. After that, it's back to Blomkvist. Because of this, I think the title of the book should be something like "The journalist with 3 occasional lovers" or "The man who wrote a bad article"; the story doesn't match up very well with the title. It's more about Blomkvist than Salander(who has a dragon tattoo on her left shoulder blade).
It's the end of the first section of the book that begins to heat up. Salander gets raped by her guardian, who's a Sadist. Salander gets revenge by sticking a butt plug back up his ass and tattoos "I AM A SADIST, A PIG, AND A RAPIST" on his belly. There was also a threat of making the video of the rape public.Sucks to be him.
I'm actually surprised by how many women Blomkvist can love at the same time. He marries a girl and starts sleeping with Berger, the owner of the Millennium. Then, 20 years later, he's still speeling with Berger, and starts sleeping with Cecilia behind everyone's back. I'm wondering how many partners he'll have by the end of his life.
